Bonbon's Red Carpet Corner

We got to see a lot of movies in the last few weeks, so watching the Critic's Choice Awards last week and the Golden Globes last night was really fun, especially when I agree with "the award goes to" part! I'm so happy that Slumdog Millionaire won so much well deserved recognition. The humility Danny Boyle and his actors showed was such a lovely ray of light in that, umm...very overwhelming Hollywood environment. I love an underdog. And I love such a well crafted story about destiny and love and well, an underdog. I loved the nods to Bollywood. I loved the scenes of India. I love the courage.
I also loved Micky Rourke's win for The Wrestler. Go Mickey. Go Aronofsky. Go Underdogs.
But I'm happiest of all that Sally Hawkins who played Poppy in one of my favorite movies of last year, Happy Go Lucky, won best actress last night. It was the a really simple, good natured film but one of the most powerful I've gotten lost in, in a long long time. I love the courage (there's that word again...) of this character, of this movie. Poppy is my hero.
Have you seen any of them?
And if I can add my two cents in the fashion commentary end of things, I just thought Jenna Fischer from The Office looked adorably glamorous--fun glamourous (!) last night, every last detail from makeup to jewelry! Oh that Pam.

I loved Slumdog, especially for all the scenes of Mumbai. I was completely fascinated. I haven't seen The Wrestler, but heard Mickey Rourke on the radio and was touched by the way he spoke about his flagging career. Perseverance...

I was sooooo happy about Slumdog Millionaire winning! That movie really deserved it...It has been a long time since I'd seen such a well-crafted movie, with an uplifting ending.

haven't seen 'slumdog' but do love an underdog. and such gracious recipients. saw 'rachel getting married' over the weekend and it is both magical and gut-wrenching. colorful music and deepest depth to the characters.

love the post below of breakfast out. one of my favorite things...and with a dear friend to boot. can't beat it.

So pleased you loved this truly wonderful film! I did too, but being Indian myself, it was hard to watch and overwhelming at most times- nevertheless, a brilliant story and brilliant filmaking.

I jumped for joy at it's GG wins!!!

I LOVED Slumdog Millionaire. It was so inspiring and from an artistic standpoint, I though the cinematography was incredible. I loved all the shallow depth of field, the richness of the colors...everything. I kept thinking that some of the stills would look wonderful framed on my wall. I've been listening to the music all week, too.

I haven't seen the Wrestler yet. I'd like to.

Jenna Fischer looked wonderful! she looked like she was having a lot of fun:)
