a sail and a sunset and a sunset sail

It seems like we've been packing a lot into these summer days...I've learned over the years that all work and no play..well...you know the rest. I've also learned I can't say yes to everything.

But how could I say no when my brother invited us to come with his family on his birthday sunset sail on the Hudson River? Jim and I have done it for the past four years, once, sometimes twice a summer. We've given this sail as a gift to our favorite people and take out of town guests with us too. It's becoming a tradition for us--a serene and romantic thing to do in this sometimes very fast busy busy city. While the super friendly crew serves champagne and beer and soft drinks, the guests sit back and enjoy the ride. We sailed by the waterfalls and right under the Statue of Liberty. We a watched beautiful sunset to the west and the most gorgeous big orange August moon come up in the east.

The thought of it has been keeping me going all week.

(I loved Olafur Eliasson's exhibition "Take your Time" at MoMA, an incredible study of perception--get thee there if you the chance! )
