letters

I've been thinking lately about writing on the wall. And awesome lettering. My brother is a physicist. He always has blackboards full of physics and maths in his office. We have a blackboard wall in the studio as well. It is full of empty frames.

All images ffffound via FFFFound.

Last two images from Eduardo Recife, one of my favorite illustrators and makers of cool fonts)

I had a mild obsession with lettering and fonts as a teenager. Well - maybe I still do, kind of. The blackboard and whisky labels are my favorites.

I have a love-hate relationship with typefaces. I have to deal with them all day at my work as a graphic designer. Hand made are certainly more fun.

Fantastic post - love the bedroom wall + the vintage fonts...
In our previous home, I had a really big blackboard taking up an entire wall just inside the Farmhouse kitchen on which we would all (husband, two kids + friends & family) leave each other notes/thoughts and/or dates to remember..etc.
On selling the house, we had to "abandon" the board - obviously I kept photos - and we've missed it dearly ever since (the smaller board I have here is just not the same..!).
Hope you have a wonderful day..:)

Some fantastic examples of typography. I'm partial to the photo of the man standing in front of the blackboard. My husband is a bit of a type geek so some of that has rubbed off on me in our many years together.

There is something about typography that just grabs me. Excellent examples. I haven't visited Fffound in a long time.

The blackboard/equation photo is my fave...I thought it was interesting to scroll down and read about your brother the physicist.

I love old typography...so cool. Apparently there is a typography musueum in a city near Dubai...a friend of mine just visited it on his work stint there..said it was stunning.

I truly love your new banner, it's so elegant and simple!

These images are some of my favorites: fonts and letters integrated into beautiful rooms and pieces!

I love these images that you've chosen. I've always been fascinated by typesets and fonts. I recently read an article about the people who designed the Bloomingdale's sign. a husband and wife team...
art is everywhere...sometimes you just have to look for it.

Very neat images! You should get some chalkboard paint and go to town. We just painted my office chalkboard black. It looks really chic actually!

Letters and writing - what a great graphic element and I like the sense of texture it creates too - nice post!

Type, letters, script...all the ways to communicate with words.. I love all the styles and ways in which they are used. An odd, but interesting movie to see, The Pillow Book. Look it up...I loved it. About a Japanese women obsessed with writing on bodies. I love different characters from different languages.

i love all these so much. i'm so obsessed with writing and type and cursive and old paper and the tape holding the pages together in the last image. i could surround myself with all of this...and just keep adding to it.
