Life got sort of unruly for the past few weeks. I got busy with things that didn't feel too summery, but difficult and sad and rough going. And then at the house of one of my sweetest kindest friends, right by the beach
greeted by a beautiful garden
and the ocean a few yards away
life was suddenly really really good, a world away from the week before, the brooklyn before, of missing Jim, missing my dad on our first father's day without him, of too many things going wrong, moms getting sick (and better) and then an invitation I am so so happy I said yes to...thank you.

i guess life is made up of peaks and valleys, but it doesn't mean it's easy. the cottage looks divine and i'm glad you had a lovely peak while you were there. and those shells, where do you find shells like that in ny anymore? enjoy your picnic this weekend. xo, c
oh man, the little house looks good through your eyes! And the flowers! I love how you captured the little squiggly thing in the middle of the geranium. So happy to hear that life isn't BFing in the M anymore and is now a bowl of cherries. xox

smart girl.
take it where you can get it!
i'm sorry you have been going through these rough bits. i guess without the bad parts we wouldn't truly appreciate the good parts. so happy you had fun by the ocean, you deserved it!
oh D, I hope you feel better real soon. A cottage, sand between your toes, ocean, garden... sounds like a perfect getaway.
i love the blue shutters with the blue hydrangeas!
hope you are having a wonderful weekend, relaxing and resetting.
what a delightful getaway, glad you were able to enjoy some time by the beach.
That looks like a good place to take a deep breath.
That cluster looking shell in the middle?? I was snorkeling the other week, and I saw something that looked like that shell, or similar, in the water...there were two foot long, white stringy looking things coming from each one, waving around in the current. It was very interesting, and very creepy. I made sure I swam past with a suitable buffer between it and me. :p
