Even if your weekend seems busy...

take time to enjoy it a little.

I left Friday afternoon to take the train out to say hello to my parents. Walking to the train, over the bridge to Long Island City...I was looking at the city skyline and the sun behind it and thinking about how we have to find a new place to live--our time is over in our place of the past five years. It's been weighing on my mind a lot...

and then I saw this....some art someone had left...it made me feel hopeful. maybe it's a good sign...

When I arrived at my parents house, my father was waiting in front of the house, sitting among his beautiful flowers, his big patch of lavender. We cut some and here is the pretty bouquet my mother made for me. It is always nice to see them and go to their house--it makes the world go away a little.

Then on Sunday, back in Brooklyn, back to work...

Here is the Brooklyn Flea yesterday! It was a lot of fun especially because I got to spend it with Jim and Ana: Thank you both for all your help (and for feeding me pupusas all day) and to all you sweeties too--like Alexis who took a picture of her new bonbon on her fabulous blog, Clinton Hill Chill{!} and everyone who came out to visit...I'm going to be back next Sunday as well because of you!

when we came home last night , we found Icky, the funniest cat I know, here, nesting in the bathroom sink. we laughed and laughed...she's our little comic relief...

and then here is Maxine, taking time to smell the flowers.
Here's to enjoying many good times amongst the business of Autumn...

Lovely light in your city photos. I've been wanting to get over to LIC for a photo walk--there are some cool spots over there. What a lovely weekend: fun, family, and flea market. That's about as good as it gets.

I saw the flyer about the flea market and wished I could have been there. I love flea markets, the variety of artists, food...a lot of fun. (Your cats are adorable and it is funny that they are similar to my two.)

Another thought: because of all the moving with the military a friends mother gave me some very good advice because I was completely bent out of shape about living away from NJ. She said, "Honey (southern drawl) you have got to grow where you are planted."

aww.thank everyone---nadia---the gorgeous one is not me--it's ANA!!! I wish it was me! it's true--i hope we can find something as beautiful as what you've found...

wow Camille--those are great words of advice she gave you --thanks so jmuch for passing it on...

I love what camille write as well! My mother used to use the word grow about my relationships she would say " if your not growing it's not feeding you"...

all the plant talk is exactly right. and i can't believe how lush your parents' garden is- although i shouldn't be surprised, at your ability to create (tomatoes, floral arrangements, and of course, all the bonbons). it had to come from somewhere!

i'm just still trying to digest all the papusas from the flea market. you guys are street-food machines. i, sadly, am still a novice.

great post! I am torn between your father & the sink cat... in love with both ;-) As for finding a new space, I too believe in signs. The right place will come at the right time.

What a lovely weekend! Camille is absolutely right: my dad was in the air force so I have never been more than a couple of years in one place, except here, thousands of miles away from home. Home is where you plant your heart, it can be anywhere :)
