now we move everything to the other side of the room and start over here. and then paint the room. and then make it work for us. Any ideas on how to really bring the room together?
I think the room will naturally come together once you get back to work....you'll start incorporating yourself right in there.... do you have some plants for such a bright and cheery space?
so, i guess this means you're really serious about this renovation ;). i'm italian and try to avoid sitting with my back to the door, so i'd love to see your big desk at a 90 degree angle to the wall in between the two windows with a chair or two in front. this way you can keep your eye on the window and the door!
wonderful! you are on the super-fast 8 week track, i love it. i just spent 10 hours cleaning out my studio yesterday...i am almost finished with the entire house. so gratifying, isn't it? so fun to watch your documentation...
i'm just wallowing in envy that you have a studio this size...as i'm looking at a studio thats about the size of a corner here. with no window. ah, what to do, indeed!! good luck, deb, i have total faith you'll nail it.
Okay, I'm back too.... Maybe it's just me, but: those tall windows are screaming for some reaaaally long (like, almost ceiling to floor, definitely) loooong curtains. IKEA carries a bunch of stuff that's long - and affordable. And you can use either cable or, like, electrical conduit (you know, they look like copper piping but they're silver) and brackets to hang them. They can be solid (like, a gray a bit darker than the wall, or even white?) or have pattern - that's totally up to you. And I agree that that ceiling light could use a little more spunk. You could go to the salvation army, get one of those ugly brass chandeliers that come with model homes and rentals that everybody hates, and spray paint it (gray? white? blue? a crazy color, like fire engine red??)... You could even swag beads from it... Just a couple of thoughts. I'm sure whatever you do it's going to be exactly what you needed. How very awesome. -maria
vs maria: thanks so much!love the curtain idea but we use fire in the studio! we have some nice wooden slat venetian blinds so that will work.
maria and jade nice chandelier idea! we actually had to go to ikea today and saw some great big chandelier type stuff and thought of swagging our own beads as well! love it! thanks you!!! (although ikea made me want to throw myself into the river...)
christine---yes to plants!! and fresh flowers we are hoping!
hamsterjam: good art? i think i know where to look...

you're so lucky to have such a large space.
Looks like the room is going to be lovely! My vote is to add a big, fat chandelier! And white sparkle lights! I have a thing for sparkles :-/
Good art and simplify!

i agree w/ cindy...no backs to the door...makes me nervous.
also, i'd organzie everything by color on your wall of shelves...so you can have a pretty rainbow wall!
