Eurostar'd

Early leaving Paris

breakfast on the train

St. Pancras Station London

I luhuv traveling by trains. When I was on the train from Paris to London, I started a list of every train trip I'd ever taken and all the passing images from out the windows that I concentrated so hard at the time to remember: beautiful vignettes of sheep/cows/horses in fields, camel herders in desolate deserts, mountain bends, river crossings, scenes of wet green rainforests, rows of eucalyptus trees in India and cypress in Italy, small villages and children chasing the train yelling "hello!"... I didn't have my sidekick canon elph then.

And although the trip between London and Paris is too short in my opinion and my suitcases were too heavy, it's the feeling of total freedom, abandon, nostalgia, inspiration, time for contemplation, exploration, (train food) that reminded me to take a much longer train trip again sometime soon.

i am sad to admit that my train rides have been limited to one. an amtrak ride in first grade. unless you count subways and the bart...which i don't.
but, i do dream of train travel through europe, but for now i will live through these photos.

Wow, you get the most fantastic shots everywhere you go. And the trains seem like they'd be a wonderful time!

I am with you on the train thing. I love trains, they are romantic. In Canada we have the Rocky Mountain Railroad which is this fabulous passenger train that goes through the rocky mountains. Sigh! Very expensive. Stop by this week, I have a little "thing" happening in my little corner of the blog world.

I think I've only been on a train twice.

Traveling from Paris to London via train must be quite an experience.

Love trains too! In the UK the trains are much slower than in France so I get to enjoy the landscapes twice longer! Enjoy your stay in London!

my favorite train ride was from berlin to warsaw, sitting in an ancient, red-velveted compartment and looking at the insane, almost unnaturally yellow fields of rapeseed in bloom out the window.

the dining car had porcelain plates, real silverware, and servers with napkins over their arms. the bill for a polish version of kaska varnishes came to about $2.50...ah, it was lovely.
