Views from Paris

The pretty courtyard of my friend coco's place.

Took a little walk this afternoon on the Boulevard St. Germaine
near where I'm staying. It's a little gray and misty but warm--about 50 degrees F.

A few side street views and some window shopping.

With a few stops for actual shopping since it's pretty much the last chance I get before the show to indulge. Went into Diptyque, above, a narrow and charmingly beautiful shop, in lime green and dark woods with chocolate and pink flowered wallpaper on one wall and just the glass bottles picking up light along the windows. Favorites are the room atomizers and since I just ran out of mine I had to pick up a new one: Baies, Mimosa, Muguet, Tilleul.

And chocolates. It's almost Easter as you can see and the displays are eye-popping. Chocolate shops are multiplying throughout the city. I picked up my mother's favorites, marzipan shaped like fruits but Corinne and I ate the whole bag. Oops. Will have to go back I guess and lock them away!

Spring springing at the Musée de Cluny, an incredible medieval rectory built on the site of ancient Gallo-Roman thermal baths. I had never been inside the gardens, although I've passed

Bonjour! I had a chance to do alittle walking today and snapped away. Paris in the Springtime. Sing it with me! I'm glad it comes in February nowadays. Tomorrow I look for fresh cut flowers and set up for the show.

Out of the Frying Pan

The past few weeks have been a blur getting ready to present Fall/Winter 2008-09 in Paris at Le Showroom. Am a bit exhausted, nervous but also excited to see old friends and to see the bag I designed on the streets during fashion week. Arriving a day early to do my sourcing and maybe do a little shopping and visit Ladurée, something I never get to do anymore since I'm at the show all day!

Plane leaves at 9:30 pm and I find myself oddly prepared, although I always think
I've forgotten something. Good thing I made this checklist last year.
Today I only have to finish deciding which clothes to take and how I can avoid an overweight baggage fee. And book a room in Barcelona, our little holiday stop after the show is over next week.

So, am out of the the studio and the country until the 9th of March. A few pics from the last few weeks.

Charms after plating process.

Valentine from the Royal Me

Lovely Valentine. Good buddy over at The Royal Me sent this to our "club" via the awesome sweet truthiness of Steve Powers. I just ordered his new book, Steve Powers-Studio Gangster as a result. Good work K!
(A second sentiment via Steve Powers)

Better and sweeter yet, she also posted this one she made huh-self on her blog. Nice!

Lots of love to everyone today. Whatever you do today, be nice to yourself and
try to do something nice for someone else too.

Come on

If these gorgeous bouquets were to turn up at my door, I might shed a tear of sentimental joy. That's how lovingly made they look.
I'd just order any of these for myself. Or maybe drop a hint on my blog that a bouquet of flowers from Saipua on Van Brunt St. here in Brooklyn are just plain beautiful and inspirational. Isn't that what a true Valentine should be?

Postcard for Show: Check

The Woods and The Prairie, Fall Winter 2008/2009

Had my cards printed at Greener Printer in Berkeley and couldn't be happier. Printed on recycled matte stock with soy-based ink and looking good. They were so nice to work with too.

But wait. We're not done yet. Last jobs left: Make line-sheets, choose images for posters and bring the whole shootin' match to my man John at East Side Copy, E-mail buyers, run through display, work on pieces that still need workin'. Pack. Sleep at some point.

love loving love

Looking for love, found these lovely loving pillows from Lush Designs at Made by Girl via The Style Files. Want want want. Need?

But better yet, what about these Dishy and Dirty aprons? I say yes. A late bunch of valentines for sure.
