Bonbon's Red Carpet Corner

We got to see a lot of movies in the last few weeks, so watching the Critic's Choice Awards last week and the Golden Globes last night was really fun, especially when I agree with "the award goes to" part! I'm so happy that Slumdog Millionaire won so much well deserved recognition. The humility Danny Boyle and his actors showed was such a lovely ray of light in that, umm...very overwhelming Hollywood environment. I love an underdog. And I love such a well crafted story about destiny and love and well, an underdog. I loved the nods to Bollywood. I loved the scenes of India. I love the courage.
I also loved Micky Rourke's win for The Wrestler. Go Mickey. Go Aronofsky. Go Underdogs.
But I'm happiest of all that Sally Hawkins who played Poppy in one of my favorite movies of last year, Happy Go Lucky, won best actress last night. It was the a really simple, good natured film but one of the most powerful I've gotten lost in, in a long long time. I love the courage (there's that word again...) of this character, of this movie. Poppy is my hero.
Have you seen any of them?
And if I can add my two cents in the fashion commentary end of things, I just thought Jenna Fischer from The Office looked adorably glamorous--fun glamourous (!) last night, every last detail from makeup to jewelry! Oh that Pam.

Thank you

We meet for breakfast at our favorite place whenever we can. We sit and talk and laugh and eat and talk and laugh for a looooooooong time. And order a little more so we can sit a little longer. And I'm always ready to start life from scratch after spending time together. Thank you for starting an icy Sunday with so much love Ada.

I'm sending all this good Sunday feeling out to everyone. Are you feeling it? Happy Sunday!

Big Doses

of inspiration for Fall 2009/Winter 2010. We are designing now. Having spent these last weeks absorbing so much for and looking inward for this next collection. I'm drawn to worlds of rough and earthy glamour, looking at images that convey a gentle and intuitive grace.

It's so nice to lay everything out, finds from my last trip to Paris, turn off the email and the world a little longer... I am making our inspiration boards and will show you soon...
All images from ffffound, and then gorgeous bouquets from saipua, polaroids from "my polaroid blog".

"Send a Salami to your Boy in the Army"!

How great are these photos from Quango Inc., my awesome website dudes in Portland, Oregon--I send them a "thank you salami" and a big rye bread from Katz' Deli in NYC every year partly because it was funny the first time, now because they love it--it's been a tradition since 2005! We're set to overhaul my old website and give it a whole new oomphy thing in 2009. Thus I bribe them with salamis. (Of course any ideas or feedback for the new site are welcome. I'm going to need all the help I can get on this one...)

On another non-salami related note, I've been on holiday from my computer and pretty much from all modern communications these past few weeks. I'll be back in full swing towards the beginning of next week, it's just that my hands actually hurt from all that was December, bright and beautiful. I am resting them (and my brain) and will be back to work designing my Fall '09 collection and some special news about a new store we're working with (very exciting!) and to (best of all!) catch up with all of you and your wonderful bloggies with nimble mind and fingers so often you will be sick of me.

*{Check out the Food Bank for NYC Raffle winner's blog, Superdumb/Supervillain to hear about Naomi's reaction to her big package of goodies! What a cool person to have won I think---you'll see what I mean when you take a gander at her blog. She is... awesome..I'll be organizing another one again soon for sure!}
